afterBOT Awarded Patent for Digital Receipt System

afterBOT has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,552,087, entitled "Electronic Transaction Receipt System and Method" from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its system that generates and stores digital sales receipts from multiple retailers in a central repository. With this invention, consumers can securely access, view and download their own electronic receipts from multiple retailers using their computer or mobile device. Additionally, since afterBOT's system allows the digital receipt data to be securely parsed, stored and de-identified from individual consumers, the same system can use data from aggregated sales transactions across multiple retailers to perform detailed market performance analysis for retailers and their suppliers.

This patent helps strengthens afterBOT's TransAccess solution, which extends the NRF ARTS XML Digital Receipt schema to provide a "real time retailing" solution that stores, analyzes and transforms transaction data into actionable insights across the extended retail enterprise, inclusive of both customers and suppliers. TransAccess leverages an atomic-level POS post sale transaction management database to deliver secure, unique views of POS data to customers, employees, and suppliers.

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers Adds Sales Audit Platform

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers selects Epicor's Sales Audit software to validate and relay accurate and timely transaction information throughout the enterprise. To support today's tech-savvy student consumers, Barnes & Noble College Booksellers offers college partners advanced digital solutions to merge with their existing campus operations. To strengthen store operations and auditing -  and to increase flexibility and integration between bookstore sales channels -  Barnes & Noble College Booksellers sought an enhanced technology solution to bolster its campus offerings.

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers chose Epicor Retail Sales Audit as the central repository for all sales transactions. The validation tool bridges the gap between the enterprise and sales channels, helping to improve store operations and auditing productivity. Sales Audit is part of the Epicor Retail Audit and Operations Management suite, designed to help multi-channel retailers manage transaction data verification and investigation. The solution accepts transaction data from across channels - Point-of-Sale (POS), kiosk, Web or catalog - checks for anomalies, and then feeds the clean and accurate data to downstream systems. Additional modules within the suite include Loss Prevention, Employee Productivity and Commissions, Credit Settlement Interface, and Voucher Management (Gift Cards).

"The Epicor Retail Sales Audit application is recognized as a best-of-breed solution providing an extremely flexible foundation and advanced functionality and scalability," says Stephen Culver, Vice President and CIO, Barnes & Noble College Booksellers. "Fully integrated with our POS system, Epicor's Retail Sales Audit streamlines communications between stores, Web sites, home offices and financial processors while providing a seamless customer shopping experience.

"This tool delivers improved visibility to sales, shortens timelines to close financial periods, and by working based on exceptions it allows financial departments to increase efficiencies," says Culver. "Our booksellers can extend beyond the boundaries of the bookstore to facilitate transactions from offsite locations such as university, student and sporting events - wherever our partners want to set up shop."

Opterus Announces New Store Ops-Center

Opterus announces the release of Store Ops-Center Version 2.2. Opterus Store Ops-Center is an on-demand retail portal designed specifically to create content, ensure message delivery to stores, monitor task execution and enforce operational compliance.

Offered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, Store Ops-Center is delivered in an on-demand, Web-based retail portal that improves employee productivity with full compliance monitoring of what, how and when tasks are completed and communications are read.

Key enhancements in V2.2 include the following:
- Store Calendar provides stores with a calendar view of their assigned tasks and an event scheduling solution for store-generated and personal entries. All levels of operational management can be configured to have the ability to enter, view and track upcoming store events.

- Survey Creator allows the head office to quickly and easily create store surveys that can be targeted to specific stores, groups of stores, or individual roles within the stores. Survey results can be retrieved and are available in various formats including csv, xml or via Web services.

- Task attachments allow stores to attach files (spreadsheets, documents, pictures, etc.) when completing a task. This could be used as an additional step to validate that the assigned tasks have been completed as per the corporate request.

- Location properties provide an extension of the retail hierarchy, allowing retailers to target tasks and communications at groups of stores based on store attributes. For example, store communications can be targeted based on unlimited attributes such as store size and format, the distribution center that services the stores, the types of services offered within the stores (pharmacy, deli, etc.), and other user-defined criteria.
